Taranaki's rugby referees are staying rural.

After nine years of being sponsored by Taranaki Farmers, the whistle blowers have announced a new three-year deal with rural supplies store Farmlands.

"Refereeing from the sidelines has always been a passion of mine," Farmlands regional manager Keith Stockman said.

"I just feel it's an excellent thing to get involved with because where the hell would we be without referees. I mean, everybody wants to sponsor the Taranaki A team but I think it's more beneficial for our wider community for us to come in on the referees' side."

When returning or if you are looking for gear, please contact Alan for this.

Lets get kicked off on time . . .

A reminder to referees about getting games kicked off on time. When talking with team managers and captains prior to the game, remind them they need to be on the field and ready to kick off at the time prescribed, not just leaving the changing rooms then.
This is part of our role to ensure that happens. Often other games may on that field after , or referees are required to run touch.
Often you will need to be running teams onto the field from their changing rooms with sometimes up to 5 minutes beforehand, as it can take that long for them to finally come out, or it can take that long to make it to the field.

Rugby Smart
All referees must have attended a rugby smart before taking the field.
There are videos of the rugby smart available for you to view if you have not attended yet..
